Footsteps of Discovery
For the last five years, Footsteps have been giving people from all walks of life, an outdoors experience in the form of Survival and Bushcraft. They are a team of ex military headed up by Major (Retd) Tony Manley MBE (Spanner) and Captain Mark Sainsbury. They have set up their school location in Trenowth Wood, which is approximately 100 acres of beautiful woodland near Grampound Road, Truro. They specialise in basic survival skills, and conduct courses including day visits and residential for schools, colleges and different youth organisations, including corporate team building and leadership events.
During the summer period one of their most popular activities is the Families
Survival Introduction day, this allows families and groups the opportunity of coming to the woods for a day with a difference, (Children having been shown the various fire lighting techniques cooking their own lunch on an open fire) and of course other skills such as shelter den building, axe throwing trapping and the correct use of a knife.
