The pinnacle of Hawaiian surfing culture – at Watergate Bay. Stand-up paddlesurfing, one of the oldest forms of surf sport, is just as it sounds – standing on a long, wide board you use a long-handled, single blade paddle to move across flat water and to manoeuvre and turn the board through the surf. It’s a totally addictive way to play in the waves. Stand-up paddlesurfing is the perfect sport in small surf, allowing you to get out in the water when the waves are too small for regular surfing. Once you’ve got the hang of this amazing sport, you’ll understand its grace and power and you’ll be hooked. We don’t cut corners when it comes to safety or how much fun you’re having - we’re all about small groups and plenty of individual attention for each student – that’s how we make sure everyone gets a great stand-up paddlesurf experience that fits their ability and maximises their potential. You’ll have a great time and you’ll make real progress. We offer a half day lesson in groups of no more than five people and we provide everything you need to get in the water and start learning, including boards, paddles and wetsuits, plus boots and gloves in the winter – yep, we teach all year round. The Extreme Academy’s home is a brand new, purpose built school with changing rooms, hot showers and space for safety briefings.
