 The Newquay wave rider sealed his reputation as Britain’s “best ever” surfer by seeing off challenges from the UK’s top riders in the BPSA O’Neill Scottish Open. He then performed his career best by winning the WQS O’Neill Highland Open with a perfect, 10 point, stand-up barrel in the final. Winning a major WQS title puts Winter one step closer to his aim of advancing to the WCT – surfing’s premier league. The WQS competitors faced some mixed conditions, including some near-perfect, peeling 6ft barrels. The preceding BPSA event was a bit of a coup for Cornish surfers, with Winter first, Newquay competitor Spencer Hargraves in second, and Cornwall based surfers Reubin Pearce and Llewellyn Whittaker in third and fourth.Bookmark this item              |
