| Cornish gig rowing voyage makes history |
|
A group of gig rowers from Charlestown rowing club have made history, as well as some money for the RNLI, by circumnavigating Cornwall.
The challenge was not made any easier by the 30-mile overland push from the upper reaches of the River Tamar to the Bude canal on the north coast. The combined weight of the gig and trailer was over half a tonne. The team was led by St Austell Brewery’s head brewer Roger Ryman. He said: “I know it sounds extreme but with my 40th birthday around the corner I felt the need to take on some sort of challenge.” |
