| Dreya in round two of BKSA Kitesurfing Gran Prix 2007 |
|
Newquay’s Dreya Wharry recently shocked the judges, the crowd and even herself, with a surprise win at round one of the BKSA Kitesurfing Grand Prix 2007.
The event was hosted by the Extreme Academy at Watergate Bay and attracted top professional kitesurfers from South Africa, Ireland and the UK, who all struggled with difficult cross-offshore winds. Dreya was not only battling against the turbulent conditions to win the pro ladies fleet, but also a rustiness stemming from months away from the competitive calendar. Last year’s BKSA champion Lewis Crathern from Worthing won the pro men’s event. |
