| Euro Blokart Championships launched on Cornish soil |
| The first European Blokart Championships to be held on British soil took place at Gwithian in November. Around 80 competitors from the continent converged on the beach over a windy weekend for a series of speed and slalom races. Local man Howard Smith became European Champion (see Cornish Heroes) ahead of favourite Nicolas Boel of Belgium. Race Officer Graham Bobin said: “It's a great result for this young sport as well as Cornwall. We've proved Hayle as a world class venue for this sport, and now we have the new British and European Champion.” |
