Cornwall's surfers are heading north to compete in the UK's first ever Triple Crown of surf contests at first-class breaks in the North East, Scotland and Northern Ireland.In the space of one week, the UK's top pro surfers will compete in three contests back-to-back for the chance to win the ultimate prestige of the Triple Crown title and thousands of pounds in prize money. The Triple Crown is a popular format on the World Championship Tour, which sees the world's finest surfers battle it out at in consecutive contests at Haleiwa, Sunset and Pipeline in Hawaii. The Relentless Triple Crown in association with Wavelength is the UK version organised as part of the UK Pro Surf Tour. The 3,500 mile road trip will see a travelcade of UK, Irish and international surfers compete in three events at prime surf locations, chasing valuable tour points, £8000 prize purse plus an extra £1000 winner takes all for highest placed Triple Crown surfer. The Triple Crown takes place between 20 and 28 October 2007 as follows: G Shock North East Open – Longsands Beach, Tynemouth. UK PST Scottish Open – Thurso East, Scotland Circle One Portrush Open – Portrush, Northern Ireland Andrew Topham from Relentless said: "This unique challenge is a fantastic opportunity to increase Relentless’ commitment to surfing at three core surf locations in the UK and Ireland."
