Surfer at UK Pro JuniorNorth Devon surfer Stu Campbell dominated the Oakley Xpress Yourself junior surf contest at Fistral, winning not only the under 16s but also the Pro Junior event against tough competition.

The Woolacoombe ripper thrashed his way through the contest in perfect 2-3ft waves, knocking out Newquay hotshots Tom Butler and Mitch Corbett to take the main title.

The event is only one of two junior contests on the UK Pro Tour, so competitors were eager to notch up some points.

In the Girl’s competition, Newquay’s Holly Donnelly took the top honours ahead of Gwen Spurlock, Zoe Sheath and Kathleen Spears who are among the UK’s top female surfers.

The second day started with the under 16’s, who were chucking buckets of spray as they competed for the attention of the judges. Each surfer clocked up nearly ten waves each, with consistently high scores, but Stuart Campbell took the win from Alex Baker in second, Jack Butler in third and Lewis Clinton in fourth.

In the under 12’s final Harry Timson cleaned up with two excellent scores of a 8.50 and a 6.67. Second was Patrick Daniel, third was Jobe Hariss and in forth was Dale Foster.

In the Pro Junior final, the ocean went mellow. Ten minutes into the heat and only a handful of waves were caught.

Although Tom Butler scored the best wave, he only caught one, leaving Stuart Campbell in first place with two scores of 6.67 and a 5.40. Lyndon Wake came second, Tom Butler third and Mitch Corbett fourth.

Other trophies included the annual highest scoring wave trophy and the Globe time for airs trophy which were both taken by Stuart Campbell as well. Contest director Jack Clinton thanked Oakley and Globe for supporting the event, alongside Xbox, Carveboard and Fistral Blu.
