Cornish duo kneel to win
Cornwall’s club of world champions got two new members in January when Jody Winter from Newquay and Richard Smith from Polzeath won titles at the Kneeboard World Championships in Santa Cruz, California. Jody was crowned Ladies World Champion and Richard became the Pro Junior World Champion, representing the best ever results for the British team in the growing sport of kneeboarding. The Cornish crew stormed the contest with a number of other notable successes, including a second place finish for Natalie Silverthorne from Polzeath. Unfortunately, Karl Ward of St Ives, who is hotly tipped as a future world champion, bowed out of the contest in the semis.
