Lusty Ready for Night Surf Party
Thousands of people will descend on Lusty Glaze Beach in Newquay later this month (Fri 27 – Sun 29 June) for one of the most popular beach parties of the summer – the Lusty Glaze Night Surf sponsored by Fat Face.
The mixed festival of surfing, beach lifestyle and live music returns this year with a packed schedule to keep people entertained throughout the weekend.
Now in its eighth year, Lusty Glaze Night Surf is one of the best loved events on Cornwall’s summer calendar.
As well as a top level surfing contest featuring many of the country’s best pro surfers, spectators can enjoy free concerts by top local bands and soak up the atmosphere of this laid-back Cornish cove.
Organiser Jeremy Griffiths, who owns Lusty Glaze Beach, commented: “Of all the events we host during the year, this is the one that fires people’s imaginations the most. We’re proud to once again be putting on this festival of surfing and music, which continues to be the benchmark for a whole host of other Cornish events.”
The action starts next Friday afternoon when competitors take to the water for the first round of the surf contest, which is part of the UK Pro Surf Tour. Surfing then continues until after dark on Friday and Saturday nights as riders battle it out on waves illuminated by giant floodlights positioned on the cliffs at Lusty Glaze.
Musical entertainment will be provided on both nights by top local band The Cardinals who will undoubtedly get the crowd rocking.
As always, the Lusty Glaze Night Surf will be celebrated with a spectacular fireworks display after the surf finals and presentation on the Saturday night.
The Sunday is family day when juniors compete for the much coveted Grom title and surfers of all abilities can join workshops with Fat Face team riders.
Mr Griffiths added: “The Night Surf weekend is always fantastic fun. It’s always great to see so many people on the beach enjoying themselves. We look forward to welcoming everyone next weekend for what promises to be the best Night Surf festival yet.”
Although the event is free and open to the public, the Saturday evening is ticketed to keep numbers at a safe level. Tickets are free but available on a first come, first served basis. Tickets can be obtained from Fat Face shops in Newquay and from The Adventure Centre reception at Lusty Glaze. Please see www.adventure-centre.org for details.
