Stokesy Shines at Boardmasters
Relentless Boardmasters in association with Vans 2009 is really kicking off with fantastic, consistent swell, two days of blue skies and now we have Alan Stokes on his way to the quarter-finals – what more could we want at Fistral beach in Newquay?
Continuing with Heat 9 of the round of 48, Thursday saw a high standard of surfing including the youngest competitor in the event, John John Florence (HAW) and current WQS no.1 Daniel Ross (AUS). Unfortunately Reubin Pearce and Sam Lamiroy got knocked out of the event today after surfing in tough heats.
The Beach Sessions also started on Tuesday at the Fistral Beach bar with The Blackout, We Are the Ocean, and Cornish bands Everything Burns and Downtown Riots setting the standard from 7.30pm. Tickets for the sessions throughout the rest of the week can be picked up at the box office located at the entrance to the Fistral Beach Trade Village which opens at 7pm.
The Vans Vert ramp will also be running skate and BMX demos from 7pm throughout the evening.
The Boardmasters is the most complete event for lovers of music, surf and action sports. With 3 sites across Newquay offering surf, skate, bmx, daily live music acts and a music festival for 12,500 people, including Cypress Hill and The Streets, the Boardmasters promises to be the highlight of the UK summer.
