BBC Thrillseekers at Lusty Glaze
Cornish activity provider, The Adventure Centre, based at Lusty Glaze in Newquay, has joined forces with the BBC to encourage more people to experience outdoor activities. The Adventure Centre is part of a national network of venues offering free activities or taster sessions in the BBC Thrillseeker campaign.
BBC Thrillseeker aims to inspire active and healthy lifestyles by encouraging people to take part in outdoor events, activities and high-adrenaline challenges at no or low cost.
Following a high profile launch last week on TV’s Countryfile and Blue Peter, BBC Thrillseeker will be promoted over the coming weeks on various television programmes including the BBC’s Winter Olympics coverage.
For the duration of the campaign (early February to early April), The Adventure Centre will be offering free sessions on its Snakes and Ladders cliff adventure to local and visiting children and families.
The Snakes and Ladders activity is a vertical assault course set into the cliffs at Lusty Glaze beach in Newquay. The activity is part rock climbing and part scrambling over and under a series of obstacles en-route to the top of the cliff. The experience is rounded off by an adrenaline-pumping abseil back down the cliff face to the beach.
Tracey Griffiths, head of centre, said: “We’re proud to be supporting the BBC with this campaign. We’re really keen to encourage anyone to get outdoors and challenge themselves. It’s all about getting hearts pumping and having some fun instead of staying indoors and watching the TV! Plus this activity is free so there’s no excuse not to come and give it a go.”
