Cycling to South Pole on Cornish Bicycle
On the 27th December 2013, 35 year-old Maria Leijerstam became the first person in the world to cycle from the edge of the Antarctic continent to the South Pole on a recumbent bicycle made in Cornwall.
A British woman became the first person in the world to cycle from the edge of the Antarctic continent to the South Pole on a special three wheeled bike engineered by a company in Cornwall.
Falmouth based recumbent cycling manufacturers Inspired Cycle Engineering created the purpose built bike to cope with the challenges of the icy cold terrain of the South Pole.
The bike was successfully pedallled to the South Pole by Welsh adventurer Maria Leijerstam in the expedition which ended on 27th December.
