Ben Ainslie Meets Oldest Surviving Gold Medalist from 1948
Britain’s most successful Olympic sailor Ben Ainslie posed for photos with David Bond, aged 90, Great Britain’s last surviving Olympic Gold medallist from the London 1948 Games at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth recently.
They were pictured together for the museum’s Sail for Gold Olympic exhibition which is currently open to the public. The pair of Olympic gold medalists together represent Great Britain’s Olympic sailing legacy, and both boast Falmouth, Cornwall as their home town.
The ‘Our Sporting Life – Sail for Gold’ exhibition at National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth celebrates British Olympic and Paralympic sailing heritage and runs until 24 June.
